Horizon Air Only Airline to Serve Idaho Falls During Runway Construction

IDAHO FALLS, IDAHO — Horizon will be the only airline providing service to and from Idaho Falls while the airport's main runway is closed for repairs Sept. 2 through Oct. 1, 2008.
Throughout the duration of the closure, Horizon will offer four daily flights to Boise using 37-seat Bombardier Q200 aircraft. This aircraft's performance abilities make it fully capable of utilizing the airport's second runway, which will remain open during the construction.
After the renovated runway opens, Horizon will resume service to Idaho Falls with 76-seat Bombardier Q400s, offering a direct flight to Seattle and a direct flight to Boise starting Oct. 12. The Boise flight will depart Idaho Falls in the early morning – allowing for easy connections to Horizon flights to Los Angeles, Portland, Sacramento, and San Jose – and then continue on to Seattle from Boise. Additionally, Horizon will offer an afternoon nonstop flight to Seattle from Idaho Falls. Of the two returning eastbound flights, one will stop in Boise and the other in Sun Valley before continuing on to Idaho Falls. (See schedule below.)
The high-speed, twin-engine Q400 is one of the most technologically advanced regional aircraft in the world. This turboprop is as quiet and comfortable as a jet – thanks to special technology that suppresses noise and vibration, generously sized overhead storage bins, unobstructed under-seat space, and ample headroom (6 feet, 5 inches). The Q400 is also among the most environmentally friendly aircraft today, burning 30 percent less fuel and producing 30 percent lower emissions than comparable jets.
