Horizon Air Announces New Direct Flights from Arcata/Eureka and Redding to Los Angeles

SEATTLE – Horizon Air announced today the airline will offer new direct service from Arcata/Eureka and Redding, Calif., to Los Angeles International Airport twice daily starting April 25.
"Soon Arcata/Eureka and Redding-area air travelers will be able to fly to L.A. without the hassles and delays of connecting through San Francisco or making a long drive to another airport," said Patrick Zachwieja, Horizon's vice president of marketing and planning.
The flight schedule to Los Angeles is timed for convenient point-to-point service and easy connections to other Southern California cities and a variety of Mexico resort destinations served by Horizon's sister company, Alaska Airlines. Horizon will continue to operate direct service from Arcata/Eureka and Redding to Portland with one daily flight each way that continues on to Seattle.
To kick off the new service, Horizon is offering introductory fares as low as $69 each way based on roundtrip purchase* and Double Miles** in its Mileage Plan frequent flyer program on direct flights from Arcata/Eureka and Redding to Los Angeles taken between April 25 and June 10, 2005.

The new service is being supported by a grant sponsored by the Humboldt County Aviation Division and the city of Redding through the Department of Transportation's Small Community Air Service Development Pilot Program.
The new direct flights to Los Angeles will be operated with 70-seat Q400s. With a top cruising speed of 400 mph, nonstop flights to Los Angeles will take only 1 hour and 40 minutes.
