The Emergency Preparedness department is NOT responsible for making hotel accommodations. Alaska Airline employees should coordinate with their manager or supervisor to make their hotel reservations. Horizon Air employees should contact Jan Linder, the hotel coordinator for QX, to make their arrangements. For a list of recommended hotels around the Alaska system please see the Recommended Hotels List on First Class email under Employee Travel Service on your desktop. Horizon Air employees are not allowed to attend training in the state of Alaska, so no hotels will be provided for there.
What is a First Responder and how do I sign up to be one?
First Responders are a group of pre-designated CARE Team Members that will be deployed with the Go-Team to help with the initial accident response. First Responders must be operationally and personally available to respond immediately to an accident. They must also be willing to serve in any CARE capacity, including working with survivors and families, doing administrative work or helping with basic set-up tasks.
Current CARE Members that fit the requirements and are interested in filling the role of a First Responder should complete the First Responder Agreement Form. Once this form is completed, please forward the signed agreement to SEAERAS. There is no special training to become a First Responder.
CISMCARE is a secure web-based application that will be used to manage team member information and team activities. Our goal is to have all CARE Team members updating their own personal profiles as necessary. The 2006 Recurrent CARE Training includes an introduction to the program and CARE Team members will be assigned a USERID and login when they attend recurrent training.
How do I update my contact information if I am a current CARE Team Member?
Login into the CISMCARE Database, search for your record and enter your new information. If you are interested in additional help on how to login to the database and manage your contact information, please go to the CISMCARE link on the CARE Website Homepage. Here you will find a couple how-to documents to assist you with this process. If you are having problems logging into CISMCARE please contact Kristina Hinrichs for further assistance.
Why do I need to complete recurrent training each year?
The federal plan that Alaska Airlines has filed with the NTSB states that all CARE Team members must complete recurrent training annually to remain an active member of the team.
If I decide I no longer want to be on the CARE Team what should I do?
Contact Rick Hoaglund via email at Rick.Hoaglund@alaskaair.com or via phone at 206-392-6355. Once a CARE Team Member has removed themselves from the CARE Team, if they are interested in becoming a CARE Team member in the future they will need to attend Initial training again.
No. The date you attend CARE recurrent training does not need to correspond with the month you were initially trained. To remain an active member of the team, you must simply complete your training anytime prior to Dec. 31st of that year.
I am flying in from out of town to attend recurrent training, how should I list myself?
When making your booking in PET, list yourself as Business – Positive Space (bumpable if oversold).
